If there is something in plain view that gives them probable cause to suspect there is something illegal in your residence, they can search it. Also, if permission is given by the occupier of the residence.

    Did they smell marijuana when you answered the door? Did they see open beer bottles and people who look too young to be drinking? If they have a reason to, they can.

    lol i cop came to my house because my party was to loud, lol he stayed and had a few beers, had a few laughs, he told us to TRY to keep it down, then he left

    Yes, it is called probable cause. When you open your door to the police and then enter, you are opening the door for them to search the whole premises if they see something (or even claim to see something) that leads them to believe something illegal is going on.
